I’ve entered a ten word story into Gotham Writers’
A Very Short Story Contest.
Each participant may submit a ten word story.
Consider opportunities like this between novels. They keep your skills sharp and diverse. Only a few words submitted to a publisher is still work submitted to a publisher.

TC180’s random writing prompts.
Love at first smell.
150 word max. Poems, fiction, or non-fiction.
If at least 10 people participate, the chosen winner gets a colorful Jpeg award image to put on their social media or blog. It will likely be cheesy.

One more step
down the road
one more cold
One more knee scuff
wanting to be close
to the noise
One more disruption
snatch the candy
One more reason to breathe,
without fear of monsters
((Spontaneous first draft. Feedback welcome. Let me know if too emo.))
I can’t breathe.
There’s nothing that can turn that brighter
instead of caught like branches.
Tearing at every try.
Some things numb it.
I didn’t know anything,
until it came
tore my insides to shreds
the rest of me.
I watched my flesh disappear around bone and vein.
((First Draft. Spontaneous. Fiction, not a personal account. Might be part of a larger piece. Feedback welcome.))
